Become an Asset Again and Start by Rebuilding the Foundation: Tactical Fitness Over 40

Stew smith

Training Hard After 40, 50 and Beyond...You Can Be an Asset Again!

I believe I know some things about this situation as it is my current age group (53 this year) and have been using the Tactical Fitness Over 40 approach to training since I was in my early 40s. I cannot express how much the techniques taught in this four part series has changed my life (seriously). If you want to read more about how important this program is to me (and others) check out this article - or go right into the store and pick up this life changing program and SAVE $$:

Everything Hurts...

I have been at that spot in my life where I thought running was history, as the injuries, aches, and pains from my previous athletic and spec ops career came back to remind me of their permanent presence in my life. The hips do not lie and mine were killing me. My saving grace was losing weight (mass) and mobility days as running lighter was easier and the mobility and flexibility was just what my hips and lower back needed. I made a few changes.

Are you over 40 and have lived life hard up to this point?

I know you're struggling to train without pain and dream of becoming a person who is an asset when others need him again. Currently, you're focused on recovery from injury (or reduce pain) and need to start training again to both lose weight and get back in fighting shape.

So, let me ask you a question...

Would you be ecstatic if you could start training again without getting reinjured, rebuild the habits of training each day, and work towards the fitness levels and body weight you had 20 years ago? Because if you could do those things, THAT would be amazing! It is NOT impossible. You can turn this thing around.

Unfortunately, I also get the sense there are some roadblocks for you here, including figuring out how to:

  • Get started smartly;
  • Fit training into your schedule again;
    And it is a lot to ask to:
  • Get in shape, lose weight, and not get injured all at the same time..

Sound familiar? Another thing...

Are you also really frustrated by the fact that every time you try to get started, you hurt yourself again? Do you get bored and lose focus about a week or two into training again? And do you not have a lot of exercise equipment to get started training again? These are the typical things that prevent progress.

Plus, it would be cool if you had the answers to these questions:

  • How to treat myself like a beginner for a few weeks to avoid injury.
  • How to add variety to training so I do not get burned out by the same old routine.
  • How do I do more with less equipment and build up to harder activities

One last question...

Do you ever find yourself thinking "I am too old to be in good shape again." and "I will never enjoy training that is 'easy' as it is not fun or challenging"? I know I did! But some of the things I thought were "too easy" were some of the toughest challenges I have ever had to endure (flexibility and mobility)!  REALLY!

Been There...

Well, let me tell you, I know exactly how you feel because I've been there myself... more than once!  When all is said and done, my guess is you really just want to go back to being able to perform like you used to with less pain and less excess weight and be the asset your family needs in potentially dangerous situations either natural or man-made. (ie...Fire, Floods, Winter Power outage, Robberies or Attacks).

If this sounds at all like you...

I'd like to invite you to check out my Tactical Fitness Section at StewSmithFitness.com that focuses on helping people become an asset again. To be ready. Ready for any situation. You never know… Your life, a loved one’s life, or someone you are trying to help - their life may somehow depend on your fitness level. Can you carry someone out of a burning building? Can you quickly react to any man-made or natural threat? Can you run, sprint, jump, lift, swim, carry…? Are you an asset or do you need assistance in these situations?

This book series deal makes it easy to buy all four books and save money on a roadmap to getting started to advanced performance again, however, buy one book at a time and save money still and have a path to create good habits of fitness and health, lose weight, and get into top shape to become an asset in certain situations when needed.

I promise just because you’re an OG does not mean you can’t perform at a certain level that can save your own life and others around you.  You can still train hard – you just have to train smarter."

Where to Find More Information About Optimal Performance Training Programs

When you start training again, consider the seasonal tactical fitness model.  I call it A WAY to train and obviously not the only way to train. But it offers the opportunity to never neglect your weaknesses, improves flexibility and mobility, and puts you at a level of physical ability where you are happy with your overall ability to do just about anything. We have a system where the seasons dictate our training. When it is nicer outside, we tend to run and do more calisthenics.  When it is colder and not so nice, we lift more, run less, and still maintain our outdoor activities with shorter runs and rucks. Check it out: Seasonal Tactical Fitness Periodization System.
