There are NO Tips, Tricks, Secrets or Hacks - Just Hard Work and Consistency

Shifting Your Focus From Quick Fixes to
Daily Execution is #1

Here is a tip: Get up early in the morning, work hard, and get it done even when you don't feel like it.

There are No Tips, Tricks, Secrets or Hacks: One of the most common questions comes in the form of someone asking for tips, tricks, secrets, or hacks. There are no tips, tricks, or secret shortcuts to success in tactical fitness or special operations selection, only hard work, consistent preparation, and your own willpower. Quite frankly, no matter the long-term goal, there are few easy ways to get there. All goals worth chasing require months and years of chasing a dream and preparing yourself for the challenge of completing the task. As a coach who focuses on tactical fitness and high-attrition-rate selection programs, I always emphasize that looking for hacks wastes time. Instead of searching for an easy way out, you must build real capabilities through structured training, smart recovery, and a never-quit mindset.

Remember - exceeding the standard IS the standard.

Ten Rules of Tactical Fitness - Demystifying the myth of overnight success in a world obsessed with quick wins.

What Actually Matters Instead of "Tips and Tricks"

  • Solid Preparation: You need a long-term plan to build a base of strength, running durability, swimming proficiency, and overall work capacity.

  • Ten Best Pieces of Advice to Get Through Selection: Get inspired, start motivated, train hard, build habits, become disciplined, and find success by Never Quitting.

  • Focus on Weaknesses: Drop your ego, identify what you suck at (like running if you are a swimmer, or treading water if you are a lifter), and turn those weaknesses into strengths. Train hard and smart.

  • The "Never Quit" Mindset: When selection or a brutal workout tests you, success comes down to your personal resolve and knowing your "why". Building a Never Quit Mindset is mandatory.

  • Crush the PT Test: Do not just aim for minimum standards to get to the training; build yourself up to compete in the top tier of performance.

Why showing up every day beats every shortcut you've been sold:

We live in a culture obsessed with the "overnight transformation," bombarded by viral videos promising maximum results with minimal effort. But the reality is that shortcuts are an illusion, marketing traps designed to sell you a destination without the journey. When you rely on tips and tricks, you build your progress on a fragile foundation that collapses the moment conditions aren't perfect. Showing up every single day, even when motivation fades, is where real transformation happens. Discipline and daily consistency build psychological resilience and create an unbreakable mindset. The Never Quit Mindset!  A shortcut might give you a temporary head start, but showing up every day is the only thing that actually gets you across the finish line.

Where to Find More Information About Optimal Performance Training Programs

When you start training again, consider the seasonal tactical fitness model.  I call it A WAY to train and obviously not the only way to train. But it offers the opportunity to never neglect your weaknesses, improves flexibility and mobility, and puts you at a level of physical ability where you are happy with your overall ability to do just about anything. We have a system where the seasons dictate our training. When it is nicer outside, we tend to run and do more calisthenics.  When it is colder and not so nice, we lift more, run less, and still maintain our outdoor activities with shorter runs and rucks. Check it out: Seasonal Tactical Fitness Periodization System.
